Post Modern Romance

Post Modern Romance is an episodic digital anthology series about sapphic love, romance, desire… and ultimately, human connection. Using the comfortable familiarity of comedy or a gentle genre lens, our stories delve deep into the human psyche—tapping into universal themes like (in)security, conflict, connection, joy, loss, growth, fear, and intimacy.

Like a collection of postcards from different eras or bundles of letters from past paramours, Post Modern Romance lovingly draws inspiration from a broad canon of queer & feminist film, television, literary, and artistic staples. While each standalone episode is thematically & spiritually connected to one another within our multidimensional sapphic universe, every story features its own distinct characters, narrative arc, and period & genre influences.

With six episodes planned for season one – spanning periods from the Victorian era to the near-future 2050s – Post Modern Romance pays tribute to the kinds of cinematic representation queer women could have been creating over the last century – if women always had the agency to tell our own stories.

We are currently seeking funding, collaborators, and additional partnerships to help bring this anthology to life. If you are a producer, investor, broadcaster, or other industry professional who would like to help bring more authentic sapphic stories to the screen, please get in touch with us! We’d love to hear from you.

Development for season one is generously funded by Ontario Creates.
